These goods may be considered hazardous because of its poisonous or corrosive or flammable nature. These goods can be in the form of solid, liquid or gas and care must be taken so that during transportation they may not harm people, other living organisms, property, or even the environment. These are covered by the IMGD (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) code that provides a uniform international code for the transport of dangerous goods by sea giving guidelines regarding packing, container traffic and stowage, with focus given to the segregation of incompatible substances. Every country has adopted the rules of the transportation of dangerous goods on the national and international levels. Royal Gulf Shipping are qualified for carrying Categories 1 -9 dangerous goods as specified in International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMGD). This code provides provisions for dangerous goods transport by road, air, sea, through postal services and Transport of Dangerous Goods in Limited Quantities. This code also details the shipper’s responsibilities and also details that the shipper must not only comply fully with these Regulations when offering a consignment of Dangerous Goods, but they must also comply with any applicable regulations set forth by the State of origin, transit and destination.
